Locals tend to have coffee and perhaps a pastry for breakfast. It was 10.30 am and we stumbled on Can Pollastre and the 70 meats (including rabbit) slowly roasting on the wood-fire rotisserie. It was early, so there were no queues — YET! The staff spoke little English and us, little Spanish. Managed to order a 1/2 chicken with a skin-on potato! The birds aren’t large (a rough guess: 1.1-1.2 kg each). We didn’t speak enough Spanish to ask for sauce but — so we had the chicken on its own. The flavour is very good: just on the cusp with saltiness (I won’t want it saltier), a good balance of spice and needless to say, very juicy and tender. The skin-on wood-roasted potato is devoured even though I tried not to eat the whole spud. I can’t comment on price increase but today, it was £9 for 1/2 a chicken and a spud.

It is said to be one of the best fire wood roasted chicken places in Barcelona. Owners are very friendly.

Chicken is always good here but "bravas fries" is a hit or miss. Last time we went it was early (12 noon on a sunday) and we did not get fresh fries, instead they were soft as if they were sitting there for a good while, and I mean "hours". The same texture you get when you bought them fresh for lunch and eat the fries for dinner instead.

Good roast chicken on a spit. One of the few locally that roast them with wood, so a slightly different taste. Doesn't seem to get as busy at midday on weekends as others and is open later (5pm).
